About the Exhibition

We hope you find these artworks pleasing and thought-provoking. Collectively, these works represent a theme that is very important to Anthony: tolerance and compassion among humanity… kinship within diversity.

“Common Ground, New York,” is a growing collection and we will continually add new works by Anthony that best express this theme.

The works included in this collection fall into two categories: paintings and prints. Most of the paintings are painted with oil on panel, and one is acrylic on canvas. The prints are adapted drawings from Anthony’s sketchbooks, with which he regularly wanders New York City – on the street and in the subways – recording the diverse population in ink and graphite. These first editions are archival-quality giclée prints on watercolor paper, numbered and signed in limited print runs of fifty each.

Biography

Anthony Fatato’s artwork thrives on cultural diversity, so it is fitting that he has started his career in New York City. In a world often defined by cultural division, New York is one of those rare places that symbolize unity by fostering diversity. Everyone is a minority in New York… walk ten blocks and you might hear ten different languages, none of which seems more foreign than the next, including English.

Training his senses toward both classical and impressionistic styles, Anthony seeks to create artworks that show the story of converging cultures and the formation of new ones.

In 1998 Anthony received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Currently, he studies under Frank Mason at the Art Student’s League in Manhattan. Since the late 1990's, Anthony has had studio spaces in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Jersey City, and Yonkers, just north of the city. He recently began working from a studio in historic Redhook, Brooklyn.
